3G network retirement
Koodo’s 3G network will be retiring on March 1, 2027 nationally and was already retired in Manitoba as of April 14, 2026. If you’re using a 3G device, your phone will stop working after these dates.
The 3G network will no longer be available as of March 1st, 2027.
What does this mean for 3G devices?
3G devices will stop working.
Non-compatible 3G devices will lose the ability to make or receive calls, send texts and use data.
911 calls won’t go through.
Importantly, non-compatible 3G devices will lose access to reach 911.
You’ll need a new phone.
If your phone is not compatible, you’ll need to upgrade your device to stay connected to the Koodo network.
Stay connected: Is your phone VoLTE compatible?
Devices that aren’t VoLTE (Voice over LTE) compatible rely on the 3G network. Your device will need to be VoLTE compatible to maintain connectivity once the 3G network is retired.
Check your device for compatibility.
Visit the TELUS device compatibility checker to find out if your phone is compatible. You’ll need your IMEI number. To find it, dial *#06# on your phone’s dial pad.
